AVANOS
The
town of Avanos dates back to the Bronze Age, as can be seen
from the burial tumulus of Toprakli. On the other hand,
its terrain is watered by the 1355 kilometer-long Kizilirmak
River, the longest river in Turkey. this river was
known to the Hittites as Maras-santiya, while
in the Classic Age it was known as Halys; its current name
means " red river ", due to the color of its waters
in this section of the river.
